The NATMed PRIMA Project recently kicked off its 1st Coaching Activity with a two-part session dedicated to Farming Practices, offering practical, science-based guidance to improve water management and soil health in Mediterranean agriculture.
Session 1, April 29 2025
With the contribution of the I-ReWater Project, this session featured expert speaker Javier J. Cancela, who focused on:
- Soil management strategies to reduce contaminants and enhance water percolation
- Conservation agriculture practices that improve soil structure, water retention, and percolation efficiency
Participants were introduced to real-world strategies that help farmers respond to climate challenges while enhancing the sustainability of their farming systems.
Session 2, May 6 2025
The second session built on the first by offering more in-depth techniques on:
- Implementing soil management practices to minimize contaminants and improve water infiltration
- Promoting methods to adapt farming to local environmental constraints
The interactive session allowed participants to share their own experiences and discuss how practices could be applied in their regional contexts.
These sessions are part of NATMed’s commitment to promote Full Water-Cycle Nature-based Solutions (FWC-NbS) by equipping stakeholders with practical knowledge that supports sustainable water and land use.
