On April 3, 2025, the NATMed Project was successfully presented during the 2nd Research Project Workshop organised by the School of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM). The event attracted a diverse audience, including scientists, students, and stakeholders engaged in environmental management and sustainability.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Dean of the School, Mr. Fokion Papathanasiou, who warmly welcomed participants and reaffirmed UoWM’s strong commitment to advancing research. He also encouraged students to take an active role in research throughout their academic journey.
Professor Vasilios Abbas delivered a comprehensive presentation of the NATMed project. His talk emphasised the critical role of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in complementing and enhancing existing grey and natural water infrastructures to promote ecological sustainability and climate resilience.
Professor Abbas underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and active local engagement in ensuring the success of such initiatives. He concluded by highlighting nature’s immense potential as a strategic ally in addressing pressing environmental and climate-related challenges across the Mediterranean region.
