The NATMed consortium successfully held its 6th Periodic Meeting (PM6) in Florina, Greece, from October 21 to 23, hosted by the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM), Tero, and the Environmental Center of Western Macedonia (KEPE). The meeting brought together all partners to review the overall progress of the project, discuss updates across all Work Packages, and plan the next steps toward achieving the project’s goals.
Throughout the sessions, partners presented advances on case study implementation, monitoring and evaluation, FWC-NbS validation, and communication and exploitation activities. The meeting also included workshops on exploitation strategies and train-the-trainer initiatives, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among the teams.
A highlight of the event was the field visit to the Greek Case Study in Amyntaio, where
partners explored the practical implementation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS). Participants
visited sites demonstrating key actions such as:
- Livestock grazing to control reedbed overgrowth and eutrophication
- Assessment of riparian buffer zones, and
- Use of treated wastewater for irrigation
These actions reflect NATMed’s goal to create, test, and use Nature-based Solutions (NbS) that work with existing water systems and natural environments.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue advancing innovative NbS and strengthening collaboration across all partners as NATMed moves into its next phase.
